Housing Introduction and Policy Context
Belfast requires new housing provision to support growth. The LDP process is the main vehicle for assessing future housing land requirements and managing housing growth in line with RDS and SPPS policy directions.
Belfast has ambitious growth plans that will necessitate new housing provision. The RDS sets policy directions for the provision of housing that aim to manage housing growth to achieve sustainable patterns of residential development. The SPPS acknowledges the fundamental role that housing plays in shaping our lives and our communities and recognises that 'the LDP process is the main vehicle for assessing future housing land requirements and managing housing growth'.
