City corridors - development potential and transport

City corridors passing through local centres can benefit from higher density development due to their potential for sustainable transport connections and high-quality, high-frequency bus services, including the new Belfast Rapid Transit system. City corridors will be identified in the Local Policies Plan.

Some city corridors pass through important local centres that function as vibrant community meeting spaces. They therefore have the potential to provide good sustainable transport connections between places where people live and work or to access local facilities and services. These routes are usually served by a high quality, high frequency bus service, some of which will be upgraded to accommodate the new Belfast Rapid Transit system over the plan period. Frontages onto city corridors can therefore benefit from higher densities of development. The city corridors will be identified within the Local Policies Plan.
