Flood Plain Development and Land Raising
Development in flood plains is generally not acceptable unless justified by functional need. Land raising may be exceptionally considered acceptable in coastal flood plains, but general defence works are not sufficient justification.
defence works or flood storage compensation schemes proposed by a developer, will not be acceptable as justification to allow development in a flood plain to proceed. Exceptionally land raising may be considered acceptable in the coastal flood plain.
