Flood risk management and mitigation measures
Exceptional development in flood plains must be supported by a Flood Risk Assessment identifying all flood sources and demonstrating adequate mitigation of any increased flood risk.
In exceptional circumstances, where development proposals are considered acceptable in principle within a flood plain, adequate measures to manage and mitigate flood risk will be required. These should be set out in the accompanying FRA (Flood Risk Assessment) and should demonstrate that:
(a) All sources of flood risk to and from the proposed development have been identified; and
(b) There are adequate measures to manage and mitigate any increase in flood risk arising from the development.
