Passenger lift requirements

Where a lift is provided, it must be suitable for unassisted use by wheelchair users and people with sensory impairments, and must provide sufficient time for people with disabilities to enter and leave without risk of contact with closing doors.

Where a lift is provided, it should be suitable for unassisted use by – (a) a wheelchair user; and (b) a person with sensory impairments. Measures should also be adopted to give people with a disability sufficient time to enter and leave the lift without the risk of contact with the closing doors.
