Individual wheelchair accessible shower room requirements

Wheelchair accessible shower rooms must have minimum dimensions per Diagram 6.6, a reachable storage shelf, a slip-resistant floor sloping not steeper than 1 in 50, and if incorporating a water closet, must comply with Diagram 6.7.

An individual wheelchair accessible shower room should have – (a) the minimum dimensions and arrangement of fittings as shown in Diagram 6.6; (b) a storage shelf that is reachable from the shower seat or from the wheelchair transfer space; (c) a floor – (i) with a surface that reduces the risk of slipping; and (ii) with a fall not steeper than 1 in 50 towards the floor drain; and (d) where it incorporates a water closet, the minimum dimensions and arrangement of fittings as shown in Diagram 6.7.
