Horizontal travel distance to wheelchair accessible toilet
The maximum horizontal travel distance from any accessible area to unisex wheelchair accessible sanitary accommodation is 40 m on the same storey, or 40 m cumulative when accessed via passenger lift on another storey; lifting platforms limit vertical travel to one storey.
The horizontal travel distance from any area, to which a wheelchair user has access, to unisex wheelchair accessible sanitary accommodation should –
(a) be not more than 40 m on the same storey; and
(b) be not more than 40 m cumulative horizontal travel distance, where the unisex wheelchair accessible sanitary accommodation is on any other storey, and is accessed by a passenger lift. However, where the unisex sanitary accommodation is on a storey accessed by a lifting platform, the vertical travel should be not more than one storey.
