Environmental Protection and pollution assessment

The Council will scrutinise development proposals with potential to create pollution to ensure they do not result in unacceptable impact on people or the environment, with public safety as the overriding priority for development near major hazards or contaminated land.

The Council, working in partnership with statutory partners, will fully scrutinise development proposals with the potential to create pollution to ensure they do not result in any unacceptable impact on people or the environment. Public safety will be the overriding priority for the Council in assessing development in proximity to major hazards or on potentially contaminated land.
