Audience seating accessibility overview

Permanent or removable seating should allow people with disabilities, including wheelchair users and those with mobility impairments, to have a choice of seating locations with clear views and without segregation.

Where permanent or removable seating is provided as part of the design, allowance should be made for people who have a disability to have a choice of seating location at spectator events. Wheelchair users and those with a mobility impairment should be provided with spaces into which they can manoeuvre easily, and which offer them a clear view of the activity taking place, while ensuring they are not segregated into special areas and not obstructing the view of other users. Wheelchair users and people who have difficulty in using seats with fixed arms should have the choice of sitting next to a companion wheelchair user or a conventionally seated person.
