Lifting platforms – purpose and user control
Lifting platforms should only be used to transfer wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility between levels. All users must be able to reach and operate the controls, and the platform must provide audible and visual information about arrival and floor level.
A lifting platform should only be provided to transfer wheelchair users, people with reduced mobility and their companions vertically between levels or storeys.
All users, including wheelchair users, should be able to reach and use the controls that summon and direct the lifting platform.
People using a lifting platform need audible and visual information to tell them that the platform has arrived, and which floor it has reached.
