Compliance with European Council Directives
Products complying with relevant European Council Directives do not need to comply with other British, International or alternative standards relating to the same characteristic or purpose.
Any product designed and manufactured to comply with the requirements of a European Council Directive [e.g. 97/23/EC (Pressure Equipment Directive) or 2009/142/EC (Gas Appliances Directive), implemented by the Gas Appliances (Safety) Regulations 1995 (SI 1995/1629)], does not have to comply with any other standard or part of a standard, whether British, International or other which relates to the same characteristic or specific purpose as the EC Directive.
