Mine Waste Plan and land stability requirements

Mineral workings must comply with waste management regulations by submitting a Mine Waste Plan or obtaining an exemption, and must include stability assessments where proposals could cause land instability.

All proposals for mineral workings must demonstrate the necessary requirements in relation to The Planning (Management of Waste from Extractive Industries) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 with the submission of a Mine Waste Plan. Where a Mine Waste Plan is not required, the applicant will be required to apply for an exemption, reduction or waiver. In addition, any proposal that could give rise to land instability must include a stability report and detail mitigating measures to ensure land stability.
