Factory-made metal chimneys - certification and installation
Factory-made metal chimneys must comply with BS EN 1856:1 and be independently certified, with installation according to BS EN 15287:1 or BS 5440:Part 1 depending on appliance type and flue temperature.
A factory-made metal chimney should be –
(a) a component system independently certified as complying with the relevant sections of BS EN 1856: 1 and installed in accordance with the relevant recommendations of BS EN 15287: 1; or
(b) a twin wall component system for an oil-fired appliance and a single wall component system for gas complying with the recommendations of BS EN 1856: 1 and for gas appliances, installed in accordance with the recommendations of BS 5440: Part 1, where the flue temperatures will not normally exceed 250ºC.
