Protection of Liquid Fuel Storage Tanks and Pollution Prevention

Oil and LPG fuel storage installations must be reasonably protected from building fires and positioned appropriately relative to site boundaries to meet regulation 75.

It is the view of the Department that the requirements of regulation 75 in Part L will be met where oil and LPG fuel storage installations, including the pipework connecting them to the combustion appliances in the buildings they serve, are located and constructed so that they are reasonably protected from fires which may occur in buildings within the boundary or, where the installation is close to the boundary, either protected or separated from the boundary of the site.
