Technical Booklet L Combustion Appliances and Fuel Storage Systems·Page 11·0.1
Purpose and scope of Technical Booklet L
This guidance explains how to meet Part L requirements for combustion appliances and liquid fuel storage systems, primarily for domestic installations. For larger or specialist installations outside this guidance, reference to CIBSE, BSI, and IGEM standards may be necessary.
This Technical Booklet gives guidance on how to satisfy the requirements of Part L. Although Part L applies to the accommodation of any combustion installation and liquid fuel storage system within the limits as applied by regulation 69 in Part L, the guidance in this Technical Booklet has been prepared mainly with domestic type installations in mind. For installations subject to the requirements of Part L but outside the provisions of this Technical Booklet, such as incinerators or installations with higher ratings than those given, specialist guidance may be necessary. However, some larger installations may be shown to comply by adopting the relevant recommendations to be found in the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Guide B and practice standards produced by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM).
