Strategic Landscape Policy Areas - General Criteria
Development in Strategic Landscape Policy Areas is only supported where it meets site-specific policies and criteria including acceptable landscape impact, appropriate scale, high design standards, respect for landscape features, and no adverse impact on historic or natural heritage.
The Council will only support development in a Strategic Landscape Policy Area where it meets any site specific policy (see DM 40.5 and DM 40.6) and all the following criteria are met:
(a) The proposal will not have an unacceptable adverse impact on the landscape character, visual amenity and environmental quality exhibited by the area;
(b) The scale of development is appropriate to the locality;
(c) It incorporates the highest standards of siting and design;
(d) Those features of importance to the character and appearance of the landscape are respected; and
(e) There is no adverse impact on the historic environment or natural heritage assets.
