Use of Northern Ireland Biodiversity Checklist

The Council encourages applicants to use DAERA's Northern Ireland Biodiversity Checklist to identify potential adverse effects on biodiversity and natural heritage, and to determine what information should accompany a planning application. The tool should be completed by an appropriately qualified professional.

In formulating their development proposals, the Council encourages applicants to use DAERA's 'Northern Ireland Biodiversity Checklist'. This tool will help to identify if a development proposal is likely to adversely affect any biodiversity or natural heritage interest. It will also help establish what information may be reasonably required to accompany a planning application. The Checklist should be completed by an appropriately qualified professional with a detailed understanding of the importance and significance of the natural heritage asset.
