Policy DM 39: Biodiversity Protection and Enhancement (DM 39.3)
New development should protect existing natural habitats and create new ones, with developers demonstrating how biodiversity has been promoted in design and linked to existing networks.
New development proposals should protect and, where appropriate, create new natural and semi-natural habitats for their ecological and recreational benefits. Developers will be required to demonstrate that they have considered measures to promote biodiversity or potential improvements in habitat in the design of their proposals and have sought wherever possible to link in with existing networks.
