Direct and indirect impacts assessment
Development proposals need not be within or adjacent to a designated site to affect it; developers must assess both direct and indirect impacts including hydrological links and supporting habitat provision.
Developers should note that proposals do not have to be located within or adjacent to a designated site to lead to a loss of or damage to features of interest or otherwise to adversely affect the integrity of the site. For example, many development sites may be hydrologically linked to an international site or provide supporting habitat for site selection features. It is therefore important to assess the direct and indirect impacts of development.
