Loading bay exit requirements
Loading bays must be provided with at least one exit point from the lower level, preferably near the centre of the rear wall. Wide loading bays accommodating 3 or more vehicles require either two exit points (one at each side) or an exit point and a refuge to allow people to avoid being struck or crushed by vehicles.
A loading bay should be provided with at least one exit point from the lower level (preferably near the centre of the rear wall).
A wide loading bay (with space for 3 or more vehicles) should be provided with at least –
(a) two exit points, one at each side; or
(b) an exit point and a refuge,
which people can use to avoid being struck or crushed by a vehicle.
