Maximum length and gradient of ramps in non-dwelling buildings

The maximum length of a ramp depends on its gradient, with specific limits defined in Table 4.1. Different gradients may be acceptable over short distances where physical constraints exist.

The maximum length of a ramp is dependent upon its gradient. Table 4.1 gives the maximum length of a ramp for a given gradient. There may be exceptional circumstances where a different gradient of ramp to that shown in Table 4.1 over a short distance is more appropriate e.g. where there are physical constraints imposed by an existing building.
