Headroom measurement requirements
Diagram 3.2 shows minimum headroom requirements for stairs, with different measurements applying to normal circumstances versus roofspace conversions. Standard headroom must be at least 2000 mm along the pitch line and flight, with 1800 mm minimum for roofspace conversions.
Diagram 3.2 Measuring headroom
(a) headroom to be achieved under normal circumstances: not less than 2000 mm at pitch line, not less than 2000 mm along flight, not less than 2000 mm at landing
(b) reduced headroom for roofspace conversions: not less than 1800 mm at pitch line, not less than 1900 mm along flight, not less than 2000 mm at landing
