Tactile corduroy surface on complementary steps landings
Tactile corduroy warning surfaces must be provided on top and bottom landings of complementary steps to alert users of level changes. The depth varies based on approach direction and must extend beyond step sides.
To give advance warning of the change in level, a tactile corduroy surface should be provided on the top and bottom landings of complementary steps. See Diagram 2.2. The size of this surface should be –
(a) 800 mm deep when the approach to the steps is head on; or
(b) 400 mm deep when the approach to the steps is not head on.
In either case, the surface should extend not less than 400 mm beyond each side of the steps and be located not less than 400 mm from the nearest nosing. See Diagram 2.3.
