Building services design and structure-borne sound
Building services should be positioned considering their impact on habitable rooms and kitchens early in design; de-coupling installations from separating walls and floors using resilient mountings is the most effective approach to structure-borne sound.
The design of building services, their position in the building structure relative to habitable rooms and kitchens should be considered at an early stage in the design process as services noise and structure borne sound are the most common cause of complaint. The most effective approach to structure borne sound is to de-couple service installations and equipment from separating walls and separating floors through the use of, e.g. resilient mountings.
