Rooms for residential purposes - performance standards for separating walls, separating floors, and stairs

New rooms for residential purposes must achieve minimum airborne sound insulation of 43 dB for walls and 45 dB for floors/stairs, with maximum impact sound insulation of 62 dB. Rooms formed by material change of use require 43 dB airborne insulation but maximum 64 dB impact insulation.

New rooms for residential purposes: Walls - 43 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), Floors and stairs - 45 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), — 62 dB (L'nT,w). Rooms for residential purposes formed by material change of use: Walls - 43 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), Floors and stairs - 43 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), — 64 dB (L'nT,w).
