Dwellings - performance standards for separating walls, separating floors, and stairs
New dwellings must achieve minimum airborne sound insulation of 45 dB (DnT,w + Ctr) for both walls and floors/stairs, with maximum impact sound insulation of 62 dB (L'nT,w). Dwellings formed by material change of use require 43 dB airborne insulation but maximum 64 dB impact insulation.
New dwellings: Walls - 45 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), Floors and stairs - 45 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), — 62 dB (L'nT,w). Dwellings formed by material change of use: Walls - 43 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), Floors and stairs - 43 dB (DnT,w + Ctr), — 64 dB (L'nT,w).
