Protection against sound within a dwelling or room for residential purposes

Dwellings and rooms for residential purposes must have reasonable provisions in internal walls and floors to limit sound passage through walls between bedrooms or water closets and other rooms, and through internal floors.

It is the view of the Department that the requirements of regulation 50 will be met in a dwelling or room for residential purposes where reasonable provisions are made in the design and construction of internal walls and floors to limit the passage of sound – (a) through internal walls between a bedroom or a room containing a water closet, and other rooms; and (b) through internal floors.
