Policy DM 31: Historic Parks, Gardens and Demesnes - Development Permissions
Development affecting Historic Parks, Gardens and Demesnes is only permitted if it does not harm the site's character, principal components or setting, or if adverse effects are outweighed by strategic benefits to the Borough and can be mitigated.
Development proposals that would affect an Historic Park, Garden or Demesne will only be permitted where it is demonstrated that: (a) They will not lead to the loss of, or cause harm to, the overall character, principal components or setting of the site; or (b) Any such adverse effects are clearly outweighed by social, environmental or economic benefits of strategic importance to our Borough and can be satisfactorily mitigated at the developer's expense.
