Buildings containing dwellings and non-dwelling parts
For buildings containing dwellings, Technical Booklet F1 applies to individual dwellings while this booklet applies to non-dwelling parts such as heated common areas and commercial/retail space in mixed-use developments.
When constructing a building that contains dwellings, account should also be taken of the guidance in Technical Booklet F1. Technical Booklet F1 should be used for guidance relating to the work on the individual dwellings, with this Technical Booklet giving guidance relating to the non-dwelling parts of the building such as heated common areas and, in the case of mixed-use developments, the commercial or retail space.
