Regulation 41: Consequential improvements
Existing buildings over 1000 m² undergoing extensions or initial provision of fixed building services must carry out consequential improvements to enhance energy conservation, where technically, functionally and economically feasible.
It is the view of the Department that the requirements of regulation 41 will be met when work, referred to as consequential improvements, is carried out to enhance an existing building's conservation of fuel and power. The requirement to carry out consequential improvements is limited to existing buildings with a total useful floor area greater than 1000 m2 where the work consists of or includes an extension, or the initial provision of any fixed building service, or an increase in the capacity of any fixed building service. Such work should also be technically, functionally and economically feasible.
