Performance Standards for Thermal Element Renovation

Table B1 sets out reasonable performance levels and construction examples for thermal element renovation, with flexibility to adapt standards to particular project circumstances where full compliance is not practical.

Table B1 gives the circumstances and level of performance that should be reasonable in normal circumstances. However, each scheme needs to be considered individually and some flexibility in the application of the standards will be necessary to suit particular cases. Where it is not reasonable in the context of the works project to achieve the performance set out in Table B1 the level of performance achieved should be as close to this as practically possible. Table B1 incorporates, in outline form, examples of construction that would achieve the proposed performance, but designers are free to use any appropriate construction that satisfies the energy performance standard, so long as they do not compromise performance with respect to any other part of the Building Regulations.
