Nearly zero-energy requirements for new buildings - Regulation 43B

New dwellings must achieve a DER at least 40% lower than TER for dwelling houses or 25% lower for flats, and must include analysis of high-efficiency alternative systems.

It is the view of the Department that the requirements of regulation 43B will be met for new dwellings when – (a) the DER is at least 40% lower than the TER calculated under regulation 40 in the case of a dwelling house and at least 25% lower in the case of a flat; and (b) an analysis of the technical, environmental and economic feasibility of using high efficiency alternative systems has been undertaken and considered in compliance with regulation 43A.
