Diagram 6.1B: Location of firefighting shafts - hose laying distances
This diagram illustrates the required hose laying distances from fire main outlets to ensure adequate firefighting water supply coverage throughout floor plans. Different distances apply depending on whether sprinklers are installed (45m) or not (60m).
Location of firefighting shafts: hose laying distances
With sprinklers: 45m floor plan within 45m hose laying distance from fire main outlet
Without sprinklers: 60m floor plan within 60m hose laying distance from fire main outlet
F = Fire main outlet in a firefighting shaft
H = Fire main outlet in a protected stairway
NOTES:
1. Hose laying distances should be measured from the firemain outlet along the route suitable for laying hose. If this route is not known, the distance should be taken at two-thirds of the direct distance.
2. The fire main outlet should be located according to paragraph 6.9.
