Firefighting shaft scope - basement and upper storey service requirements

A firefighting shaft provided for certain building types need not serve a basement storey unless specific conditions apply, and similarly need not serve an upper storey unless other conditions apply. Diagram 6.1 illustrates these provisions.

However, a firefighting shaft provided under (a) or (b) need not serve a basement storey unless (c) or (d) applies and similarly a firefighting shaft provided under (c) or (d) need not serve an upper storey unless (a) or (b) applies.
