Cavity barriers at intersections

Diagram 4.4 illustrates the proper placement and configuration of cavity barriers where walls, floors, and ceilings intersect, showing both section and plan views of cavity barrier installation methods.

Diagram 4.4 Cavity barriers at intersections (a) Section - wall with cavity and compartment floor showing cavity barrier and alternative method to carry wall up to underside of floor with suspended ceiling and cavity barrier (b) Section - fire-resisting wall (but not a compartment wall) with cavity barrier at floor and suspended ceiling intersections (c) Plan - fire-resisting wall (but not a wall required to be fire-resisting solely because it is a loadbearing wall) with cavity barrier at wall intersection (d) Plan - fire-resisting wall (but not a wall required to be fire-resisting solely because it is a loadbearing wall) with cavity barrier at wall intersection showing wall with cavity and cavity barrier configuration See para 4.36(a)
