Accessibility for all users

Development must ensure good accessibility for all members of society including those with impaired mobility, extending beyond the building entrance to the general environs, with improvements sought through alterations and changes of use.

The Council will encourage good accessibility for all members of society, including those users with impaired mobility and this should be a consideration early in the formulation of development proposals. The accessibility of a building is not restricted only to its front door but extends to the general environs of the building. The Council will also seek to ensure that access to existing buildings and their surroundings is improved as opportunities arise through alterations, extensions and changes of use.
