Fire resistance requirements for protected stairway, lift shaft, and service shaft enclosures
Enclosures to protected stairways, lift shafts, and service shafts must achieve 30 minutes fire resistance for loadbearing capacity, integrity, and insulation, tested to REI 30 standard.
Enclosure (which does not form part of a compartment wall or a protected shaft) to –
(a) protected stairway
Loadbearing capacity: 30 minutes
Integrity: 30 minutes
Insulation: 30 minutes(4)
Minimum provisions when tested to the relevant European standard: REI 30(4)
Method of exposure: Each side separately
(b) lift shaft
Loadbearing capacity: 30 minutes
Integrity: 30 minutes
Insulation: 30 minutes
Minimum provisions when tested to the relevant European standard: REI 30
Method of exposure: Each side separately
(c) service shaft
Loadbearing capacity: 30 minutes
Integrity: 30 minutes
Insulation: 30 minutes
Minimum provisions when tested to the relevant European standard: REI 30
