Exit signs

Exits on escape routes (except those in normal daily use) must be clearly marked with readily visible signs complying with BS 5499-1 and BS 5499-4 standards.

Other than in a dwellinghouse, exits on escape routes except those in normal use for egress, should be marked with signs which are readily visible so that the occupants of a building can clearly and readily see where the exits are. The signs should comply with the relevant requirements of BS 5499-1 and BS 5499-4.
