Note 3: Small Building Exemption
For small buildings, maximum travel distance in one direction may be increased to 27m on the ground storey, with measurement to the stairway head or foot in upper or lower storeys.
In the case of a small building described in paragraph 2.68 the maximum travel distance in one direction only may be – (a) increased to 27 m in the ground storey; and (b) measured to the foot of the unprotected stairway in the basement or to the head of the unprotected stairway in the first storey.
