Independent means of escape for different purpose groups
Where a building contains areas in different purpose groups, the means of escape from Purpose Group 1(a), 2, or 5 areas must be independent from escape routes serving other areas.
Where a building contains areas in different purpose groups the means of escape from any area which is of Purpose Group 1(a), 2 or 5 should be independent of the means of escape from other areas of the building.
