Emergency egress windows - discharge to safe areas
Emergency egress windows must lead to a place free from fire danger. They should not discharge into enclosed yards or gardens unless those spaces meet a minimum area requirement based on the dwelling height.
An emergency egress window should lead to a place that is free from the danger of fire and not lead to an enclosed yard or garden unless it has an area of relative safety which is not less than the height of the dwellinghouse from the dwellinghouse. An enclosed yard or garden is one from which there is no exit under the control of the occupants of the dwellinghouse.
