Maximum clear span of floor joists - Table 4B.5
This table specifies the maximum clear spans in meters for timber floor joists of strength class C16, based on joist size, spacing, and dead load conditions.
Table 4B.5 Maximum clear span of floor joists (m):
Timber strength class C16 C16
Size of joist (mm x mm) with Dead Load [kN/m2] excluding the self weight of the joist at three load levels:
- Not more than 0.25
- More than 0.25 but not more than 0.50
- More than 0.50 but not more than 1.25
For each load level, spans are provided for joist spacings of 400mm, 450mm, and 600mm.
