The Strategic Planning Policy Statement for Northern Ireland (SPPS) provides the primary policy context for the Local Development Plan, outlining regional strategic objectives for housing, economic development, transportation, and town centres.
The Strategic Planning Policy Statement for Northern Ireland (SPPS) - 'Planning for Sustainable Development' is one of the most significant documents in terms of policy context for our new LDP. The SPPS both outlines and provides strategic direction on the new planning system introduced in April 2015. Critically, it defines regional strategic policy objectives for a range of topics, including housing, economic development, transportation and town centres, that will inform the LDP and in particular the development of new operational planning policies for our Borough.
