Retail facilities outside settlement limits

Farm shops, craft shops, and shops serving tourist or recreational facilities may be appropriate outside settlements if located within existing buildings and cause no unacceptable adverse impact on existing centres.

exception to the overall policy approach some retail facilities which may be considered appropriate outside of settlement limits include farm shops, craft shops and shops serving tourist or recreational facilities. Such retail facilities should be required to be located within existing buildings. All policies and proposals must ensure there will be no unacceptable adverse impact on the vitality and viability of an existing centre within the catchment, and meet the requirements of policy elsewhere in the SPPS.
