Regional strategic objectives for telecommunications and utilities

The regional strategic objectives for telecommunications and other utilities are to: • ensure that where appropriate new telecommunications development is accommodated by mast and site sharing; • ensure that the visual and environmental impact of telecommunications and other utility development is kept to a minimum; • minimise, as far as practicable, undue interference that may be caused to radio spectrum users (for example mobile phone services, media broadcasting and wireless broadband services) by new telecommunications development; and • encourage appropriate provision for telecommunications systems in the design of other forms of development.
