Plan Structure and Policy Framework
The Local Development Plan uses Strategic Policies supported by Detailed Management Policies (prefixed 'DM'), each with justification, the policy statement, and amplification where necessary. The Strategic and Detailed Management Policies together form the primary consideration for all planning decisions.
The Strategic Policies are supplemented by a range of Detailed Management Policies which start with the prefix 'DM' and are broken down by the following headings: (a) Why we have this policy – here we outline our reasoned justification and rationale for the Policy; (b) The Policy itself; and (c) Amplification (where this is deemed necessary). The Strategic and Detailed Management Policies contained in this Plan Strategy set out the main policy considerations that the Council will take into account in its assessment of planning applications. As a consequence they must be read together as more than one policy is likely to apply to the particular development in question.
