Housing Needs Assessment and Transport Assessments
A Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) should inform the mix and balance of housing tenures and types in Local Development Plans. Transport assessments should be carried out where appropriate for residential sites to improve integration with public transport and reduce reliance on private cars.
The HNA will influence how LDPs facilitate a reasonable mix and balance of housing tenures and types. The Northern Ireland Housing Executive, or the relevant housing authority, will carry out the HNA/HMA.
Transport Assessments – where appropriate transport assessments should be carried out when considering certain sites for residential use to achieve increased integration with public transport and other alternatives to the private car.
