Flood risk information and consultation requirements
Planning applications must be determined using the most current flood risk information available. Planning authorities should consult DfI Rivers and other relevant bodies where flood risk or inadequate drainage infrastructure may be material considerations, to assess the nature, extent, and potential management of those risks.
All planning applications will be determined with reference to the most up to date flood risk information available. The planning authority should consult DfI Rivers and other relevant bodies as appropriate, in a number of circumstances, where prevailing information suggests that flood risk or inadequate drainage infrastructure is likely to be a material consideration in the determination of the development proposal. The purpose of the consultation will often involve seeking advice on the nature and extent of flood risks and the scope for management and mitigation of those risks, where appropriate.
