Assessment of potential surface water flooding risk
Where potential (rather than known history) of surface water flooding exists, developers must assess flood risk and drainage impact and mitigate risk to the development and any adverse impacts beyond the site.
In some areas there may be potential for surface water flooding, as opposed to a known history of this type of flooding. Where there is potential for surface water flooding, for example as indicated by the surface water layer of the Strategic Flood map, the onus should rest upon the developer to assess the flood risk and drainage impact and to mitigate the risk to the development and any adverse impacts beyond the site.
