Alignment with Regional Development Strategy
The planning system must support the Executive's Programme for Government commitments and the Regional Development Strategy 2035, which is the overarching spatial strategy for Northern Ireland. All central government planning policy must be in general conformity with the RDS.
In furthering sustainable development and improving well-being it is crucial that our planning system supports the Executive's Programme for Government commitments and priorities as well as the aims and objectives of the Regional Development Strategy 2035 (RDS) which is its overarching spatial strategy for Northern Ireland. All planning policy and guidance prepared by central government must be in general conformity with the RDS.
